Join to apply for the Data Engineer-Engineering Tools role at The Exploration Company Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented Software or Data Engineer to help us in our mission by aiding in the development of our in-house internal telemetry and data ingestion frameworks and pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as a Data Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving,



but day to day your duties will include:

Basic understanding of time-series dataDevelop an SDK to massage, annotate, and pre-process data into a format suitable for ingestionAid engineering teams to integrate the SDK into their data pipelinesDevelop data ingestion and pre-processing pipelinesExtend the SDK to support common telemetry formatsImplementation of command line tools and backend servicesUse of best practices around testing, integration, and release managementDocumentation, support, and user trainingSchedule and backlog management

What we would love to see from you

In the role of Data Ingestion Engineer ideally, you will have the following:

Very good Python knowledge, including modules and packagesGood understanding of patterns in software engineering, specially around SDK developmentA working knowledge of databasesExperience with agile software development philosophyExperience with backlog managementExperience with a workflow scheduler, such as Argo, Dagster, Prefect,



Airflow...Readiness to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlinesThese are optional, but we value experience in:C++ and/or LabViewSoftware/SDK packaging and distributionEngineering and data analysis experienceInfrastructure as code tools, such as TerraformPublic cloud providers such as AWS, Google Cloud, or AzureData modelling, management and governanceAPI designOther programming languagesWorking in engineering-heavy industries, such as aerospace, automotive...
