As a Property and Engineering Underwriter, you will join a collaborative team dedicated to maintaining and further developing underwriting excellence at Munich Re Italia. In this role, you will contribute to the sustainable growth of a profitable Property and Engineering portfolio while engaging in a variety of challenging and meaningful projects.
You will actively support the management and development of the Property and Engineering portfolio, working closely with internal and external stakeholders and contributing to Munich Re’s long-term value creation.
Your Job
- Underwrite and assess risks, including premium calculation and defining terms and conditions, in line with underwriting guidelines, internal directives, strategic targets, and client strategies.
- Conduct negotiations and build strong, trust-based relationships with clients and brokers.
- Manage and service existing client accounts while identifying and developing new business opportunities.
- Contribute to the expansion of digital insurance solutions by enhancing existing products and supporting the development of new offerings.
- Take responsibility for the administration of assigned contracts, including exposure monitoring and accumulation assessment.
- Perform portfolio and results analyses and support the preparation of class-of-business reports.
- Support and contribute to internal and external seminars, workshops, and training initiatives.
- Participate in concept and strategy development within your area of responsibility, supporting planning and controlling activities.
- Take on special assignments, such as participating in local and Group-wide projects, international working groups, reviews, staff training, and market events.
Your Profile
- A university degree in Engineering or another relevant scientific discipline.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in underwriting, risk assessment, or a related role within the (re)insurance or financial services environment.
- A solid interest in Property and Engineering risks, with the willingness to further develop technical expertise in these areas.
- Confidence in working with IT systems and underwriting tools, and openness to developing digital and analytical capabilities.
- A collaborative mindset with strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, solution-oriented approach and the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to take responsibility and make sound decisions.
- A customer-focused attitude and the ability to build long-term relationships.
- Fluency in Italian and business-level English.
