About Panther Defense
Panther Defense Mission Systems LLC is a national security mission systems integrator and prime contractor headquartered inside the DHS HQ and Pentagon mission corridor. We deliver C5ISR integration, ISR-C2 architecture, autonomous systems, sensor fusion, and edge AI mission platforms to DHS, CBP, USCG, DoD, USAF, NGB, and IC customers. We are the technical architecture authority behind the sensor-to-decision pipelines the federal government depends on.
The problem you'll solve
Sensor systems, autonomous towers, and C2 platforms are only as good as their uptime in the field. When a ground sensor, radar, or edge-compute node fails at a forward operating location or a border site, someone has to be there to diagnose it, fix it, and get the system back into the fight fast, and without compromising the mission. As our Field Service Engineer, you are the face of PDMS on-site, ensuring the mission systems we integrate run reliably, securely, and at peak performance where it matters most.
What you'll own
-
- Install, configure, and optimize hardware, software, and network-connected sensor and C2 systems at customer and field sites
- Perform routine and complex maintenance, calibration, and repair of deployed sensor, radar, and edge-compute equipment
- Diagnose performance issues in the field and recommend solutions that improve system reliability and mission uptime
- Provide customer training and technical guidance to operators and field personnel to enhance proper equipment use and preventative care
- Respond proactively to potential issues to minimize downtime and unplanned mission interruptions
- Serve as a technical resource for colleagues and government customers, occasionally mentoring other field engineers
- Support high-volume and forward-deployed sites with on-site calibration, maintenance, and sustainment services
- Ensure professional, timely communication and a strong customer service experience with government stakeholders
What you'll need
-
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; Associate degree with equivalent experience also considered
- Minimum 5 years of related experience troubleshooting, calibration, or repair experience, ideally with sensor, radar, or C4ISR systems
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities in complex, distributed system environments
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment, often at remote or forward deployed sites
- Professional written and verbal communication skills for customer-facing technical support
- Experience servicing sensor, radar, or analytical/laboratory-grade instrumentation preferred
- Proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing software for field reporting and documentation
Our values
Mission First
- every decision measured against mission impact.
Operational Credibility
- we earn trust through execution, not brochures.
Technical Integrity
- we integrate what works, not what sells.
Why FIELD ENGINEERS choose PDMS
At most primes, Field Service Engineers are stuck servicing legacy hardware nobody's updated in a decade. xlwpduy At PDMS, you're keeping cutting edge sensor fusion, autonomous surveillance, and edge-AI systems running in the field; you see the direct, immediate impact of your work on mission systems that matter, not a maintenance ticket buried in a queue.
