In this Automation Engineer role at Novo Nordisk Anagni, you design, implement and optimise automation across the full lifecycle to boost production performance, compliance and patient delivery. You work within the Automation Engineering team to connect manufacturing equipment, OT and digital systems, enabling scalable, high-quality operations. You will lead multi-disciplinary automation activities from design to commissioning and validation, driving efficient, compliant GMP manufacturing. This hands-on project role offers cross-functional collaboration with vendors, sites and stakeholders to deliver robust automation solutions with measurable impact.

- Lead automation integration for manufacturing systems across aseptic formulation, filling equipment, facilities and utilities
- Coordinate installation, commissioning, testing and validation activities (FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ) for automation and OT systems
- Support lifecycle of automation hardware, software and OT infrastructure including backup, monitoring and robotic automation
- Manage project timelines, budgets, resources and stakeholder communication to meet objectives




- Troubleshoot automation-related issues during start-up and ensure regulatory and technical compliance
- Identify opportunities to replace manual processes with automation to improve efficiency and scalability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors and international project stakeholders to align automation with site and business priorities
- Master in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of automation experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or aseptic manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, DCS, industrial automation protocols and OT architecture
- Experience with MES and integration between MES, OT and SCADA
- Knowledge of validation processes (FAT, IQ/OQ, PQ) and GMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and GAMP 5
- Project management experience including timelines, budgets, resources and stakeholder coordination
- Analytical, problem-solving and communication skills across departments and suppliers
- Experience with robotic automation, advanced programming, automation infrastructure, backup or monitoring is advantageous
