ppJAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services. /p pManage and oversee the export department to ensure the movement of freight via ocean out of the country, in accordance with organizational policy and procedure, and to comply with relevant local, country and international law and processes. Position requires an energetic, customer service driven candidate with continuous emphasis on bottom line results. Maintain the business flow of the Export department. Ensure all levels of compliance are met on the export process. Supervise the staff to make sure they are using all the tools available to achieve financial goals of the department. Oversee the usage of vendors. /p h3ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS /h3 ul liManage and further develop efficient and effective flow of work to attain optimum efficiency and productivity of department. /li liIdentify the existence and cause of problems and solutions to correct them. /li liUtilize reports to quantify and prioritize workload. /li liManage communication with export related authorities, customers and suppliers in all relevant countries as necessary to ensure efficient, positive and lawful relations, support and activities. /li liWork with other departments in order to establish and maintain effective and relevant export activities and support in relation to the organizations operating functions. /li liInitiates, promotes, supports and implements change in order to increase organizational effectiveness. /li liMake sound decisions based on analysis, experience and good judgment. /li liEnsure staff has the training and resources necessary to perform their jobs.
/li liNegotiate with local carriers on spot pricing; issue rate quotes. /li liResponsible for TSA compliance and maintenance for the branch. /li liProvides quotes for internal and external clients. /li liTakes part in outside sales activities with sales or management staff. /li liMaintains current records on all truckers locally ; i.e. insurance certs, current tariff. /li liCoordinate work activities between office staff and 3rd party warehouse. /li liDelivery documents to both 3rd party warehouse and US Customs for Export department. /li liMeet with SSL, ocean carriers, warehouse agents, and Truckers to review service needs. /li liHandle all shipments with compliance needs. /li liMaintain local pricing recorders from all carriers. /li liAudit Export files for compliance and Business process. /li liAudit Export files for profitability. /li liHandle processing of all dangerous goods shipment for Air Export. /li liTake department concerns to upper levels of management as needed. /li liKeep track of service faults by 3rd party warehouse. /li liOther duties as requested. /li /ul h3SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES /h3 ul liThe incumbent will directly and/or indirectly supervise employees /li liConduct performance evaluations for export department staff. /li liRecommend hiring, firing and promotions. /li liIdentify and resolve personnel issues. /li liManage staff schedules. /li liCreate an environment that encourages others to develop professionally. /li liWill supervise directly or indirectly employees.
/li /ul h3QUALIFICATIONS /h3 ul liExcellent organizational and time management skills /li liExcellent written and verbal skills /li liStrong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite /li liDetail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines /li liSelf-motivated, able to work in a team and independently /li liStrong knowledge of regulatory compliance with export rules and regulations /li liAble to perform the essential duties of this position without posing a “direct threat” to the health or safety of self or others /li liAble to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors /li /ul h3EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE /h3 ul liHigh school diploma or GED. College Diploma, a plus. /li liMinimum 7 years relevant Export (Air or Ocean) and freight forwarding experience. /li liMinimum 3 years supervisory experience. /li liKnowledge of procedures for international and domestic freight, trucking and warehouse services. /li liTSA compliant. /li liDangerous Goods awareness. /li /ul h3ENVIRONMENT /h3 p100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. /p pWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and finger to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.
