ph3Senior Legal Officer (Head, Development Law Service) /h3pIn this role you lead the Development Law Service within FAO's Legal Office, guiding legal services that support national development and international cooperation in food and agriculture. You drive policy, research, capacity building, and regulatory reform across land, water, fisheries, environment, and nutrition, aligning with FAO's strategic framework. You will manage resources, mentor staff, and represent the Organization in multilateral forums. This is an opportunity to shape legal solutions for sustainable agrifood systems at scale. /pulliSet goals for the Development Law Service aligned with FAO's Strategic Framework and Member priorities; oversee output quality and timely clearance of work. /liliManage Service resources and finances; lead resource mobilization and guide personnel in implementing the work programme. /liliEnsure high-quality, clear, technically sound legal outputs in a timely manner. /liliCoordinate knowledge exchange on development law and service delivery modalities.



/liliFoster innovation and use of new technologies to boost efficiency. /liliIdentify legislative and other solutions to help Members address emerging challenges in food, agriculture and nutrition. /liliPrepare policy and position papers and internal/external reports on development law results. /liliProvide high-level advice to FAO managers, staff, and Members; supervise related work across FAO units. /liliContribute to LEG management planning and evaluation; participate in organization-wide strategy. /liliRepresent FAO in multilateral fora on development law and related issues; promote cross-unit collaboration. /liliAdvanced university degree (Master's degree) in law; ten years of relevant legal experience in natural resources and development law in an international setting. /liliWorking knowledge of English at proficiency level; intermediate knowledge of another official FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish). /li /ul /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
