Catholic Director of Religious Education - $20.00 Per Hour (working 12 hours per week)– Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily, Italy

The Role

We are looking for a Catholic Director of Religious Education to support the Active-Duty Roman Catholic Priest in delivering a well-organized and engaging Catholic Religious Education programme at Naval Air Station Sigonella.

As the Catholic Director of Religious Education, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the Catholic Religious Education Programme, helping children, youth and adults grow in their faith through engaging learning opportunities and sacramental preparation.

You'll work closely with the Chapel team, support dedicated volunteers and help create a positive, welcoming environment for service members and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

· Coordinate the Catholic Religious Education Programme from Pre-K through to adult education.

· Support sacramental preparation, including First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

· Recruit,



train and support volunteer catechists and assistants.

· Help organise youth activities, annual events and seasonal programmes.

· Maintain programme records, reports and ministry metrics.

· Attend scheduled staff meetings and work closely with the Active-Duty Roman Catholic Priest.

· Monitor teaching materials, supplies and facilities.

· Ensure volunteers meet safeguarding and Safe Environment requirements.

· Provide flexible support for ministry activities as operational needs require.

The Person:

To be successful as our Catholic Director of Religious Education, you will have:

· Legal authorisation to reside in Italy and work for U.S. Forces in Italy.

· Fluent written and spoken English.

· Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.

· Good computer and word-processing skills.

· An AMS Catechist Certificate, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days.

· A bachelor's degree in a relevant subject or at least four years' experience in religious education or ministry.

· Sound knowledge of Roman Catholic doctrine, catechetical methods and Catholic educational resources.

· The ability to successfully complete the required safeguarding and background checks.
