Location: Milan, Italy (Initial Assignment), followed by Afungi, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Planning Engineer to support the planning and scheduling of commissioning activities for a major oil and gas development.
The successful candidate will initially be based in Milan during the early project stages before transitioning to a rotational assignment in Afungi, Mozambique.
The role is responsible for planning and scheduling the overall commissioning scope in accordance with project requirements, processes, and planning tools while ensuring full integration with the overall project schedule.
Job Dimensions
Position supports the project through to completion of the development phase and project closeout.
Initially based in Milan until construction progresses sufficiently to allow systems and subsystems identification.
Thereafter based in Afungi, Mozambique on a 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off rotation.
Responsible for planning and scheduling activities for the overall commissioning scope in accordance with company, project, and corporate procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling
Prepare commissioning schedules in coordination with package planners.
Maintain forecast updates and perform variance analysis against approved baseline schedules and key milestones.
Review schedule data to ensure project schedule requirements are correctly implemented and monitored.
Ensure schedule risks are identified and accurately represented within project schedule risk analysis.
Establish an appropriate project schedule coding structure based on systems and subsystems while complying with project reporting requirements.
Review contractor and subcontractor pre-commissioning and commissioning schedules.
Review fabrication yard pre-commissioning and commissioning schedules and ensure integration into the overall project schedule.
Review and challenge contractor durations, quantities, logic links, and critical paths.
Develop independent estimated schedules to challenge contractor planning assumptions.
Coordinate with Start-up and Operations teams to integrate their activities within the overall project schedule.
Coordinate interfaces with upstream activities and integrate pre-commissioning and commissioning schedules.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting
Prepare and update commissioning progress reports.
Monitor schedule variances and forecast progress.
Track schedule contingency, float, and approved schedule changes.
Analyse, monitor, and report planning and progress KPIs.
Communicate planning status, progress, and concerns to the project team.
Participate in project meetings as required.
Support project digitalisation initiatives to improve planning efficiency and reporting.
Review and approve invoices in accordance with contract and company procedures.
Demonstrate exemplary behaviour regarding HSSE requirements, company ethics, and code of conduct.
Accountabilities
Work closely with Project Management to ensure commissioning schedules are effectively monitored, forecasted, and integrated within the overall project schedule.
Ensure project and package management teams remain fully informed of commissioning progress, schedule variances, interfaces, and associated risks.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a similar discipline.
Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in project controls within major oil and gas developments.
Extensive experience in commissioning and start-up planning for large oil and gas facilities.
Experience working on major international oil and gas developments.
Experience supporting partner and government reporting interfaces.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of planning and scheduling principles and methodologies.
Experience using:

Thinkcell
Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of company planning procedures and project controls processes.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
Language Requirements
Portuguese and French language skills would be advantageous.
