Overview
John Cabot University , a regionally accredited American university in Rome, seeks a Payroll Office Assistant who will work closely with the Payroll Manager and the other members of the team to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of employee salaries. The Payroll Office Assistant will draft employment contracts, welcome and onboard new employees, ensure detailed data entry, and support the accurate processing of timesheets. The role also includes maintaining and updating highly confidential personnel records, requiring strong professionalism, discretion, and integrity in handling sensitive information. The Payroll Office Assistant must also demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong competence in Time & Attendance software, and continuous monitoring of compliance with labor laws.
The ideal candidate is eager to learn, a reliable team player with a service-oriented attitude, and someone who genuinely enjoys working with people. As skills deepen and responsibilities grow, a Payroll Office Assistant may become eligible for increased responsibilities or future opportunities within the Payroll Office, depending on departmental and institutional needs.
This is a full-time (38 hours/week), fully on-site, one-year term contract with the possibility of renewal.
The gross annual salary for this position ranges from €26,000 to €30,000, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.
