Senior Underwriter Cyber

In this role you will drive profitable growth for Sompo International Cyber in Italy by sourcing submissions, setting terms, and building strong client and broker relationships. You will collaborate with local and regional leaders to align with strategic goals while acting as a market ambassador. The position involves negotiating contracts, expanding the Italian cyber portfolio, and ensuring data integrity across systems. You’ll work closely with cross-functional partners to strengthen Sompo’s market presence and deliver value to clients.

- Source submissions to grow the Cyber portfolio and profitability
- Analyze questionnaires, submissions, policy wordings, and technical reports to assess exposures
- Negotiate terms and conditions in line with the underwriting strategy
- Meet clients and brokers to develop new and renewal business
- Contribute to a diversified risk book by segment and profile
- Conduct underwriting reviews and contract negotiations; travel to client meetings
- Develop and maintain local language Cyber product versions for Italy




- Ensure accuracy of data entries and contract integrity in systems
- Collaborate with internal and external partners (Distribution, Claims, Risk Engineering)
- Support marketing efforts with high-quality, original solutions to build reputation
- Engage in value-add projects and representations in external forums and events
- 3+ years of Cyber underwriting experience in Italy
- Deep technical knowledge of Cyber exposures
- Strong expertise in international Large Corporate risks underwriting
- Good network within the Italian broker and in-house risk manager community
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High integrity and team spirit
- Understanding of insurance regulatory environment in Italy and its impact on business
- Strong emotional intelligence and persuasive communication
- Italian language proficiency; English required; other European languages a plus
