Job Description
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks within our Rolling Stock Engineering Department. The position is based in Pistoia or Napoli - IT.

Accountabilities
- Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS) for mechanical components
- Analyze and assess technical proposals from Suppliers
- Prepare and verify mechanical installation/integration drawings/specifications
- Conduct design reviews (both internal and with suppliers)



for the assigned work package, under the supervision of relevant Engineering Managers and Project Engineers
- Attend system stand‑alone type test and review of type test reports
- Support manufacturing, testing and validation phases
- Review design documentation with customers and suppliers
- Prepare structural drawings (carbody shell, bogie frames, mechanical components)
- Prepare equipment layout and mechanical routing drawings
- Prepare Bill of Materials (BoM)
- Ensure compliance with input requirements, international railway regulations and standards and project constraints (time, cost, quality)
- Prepare the required documentation for vehicle approval and support the homologation phase

Required Skills/ Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of mechanical disciplines (installation, interfaces, component design, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of design verification and validation methodologies
- Basic knowledge of me
