Position: Hydrovac Operator w/ CDL Reports To: Hydrovac Manager
Summary: The Hydrovac system is a non-destructive method of excavating as an alternative to mechanical equipment or hand-digging. The Hydrovac uses pressurized water and a vacuum system to quickly, safely, precisely and cleanly excavate around utilities and pipelines.
Essential Qualifications, Duties, and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
Must have either a CDL Class A or B with air brakes & tanker endorsements (Hazmat endorsement not required);
Clean driving record & a minimum of 1-year CDL driving experience;
Previous Hydrovac or trenching experience is preferred;
TWIC Card is required;
Ability to travel & work out of town/state for extended periods of time;
Ability to be on-call 24/7 for emergency response work;
Driving and operating Hydrovac units;
Completing tasks associated with daylighting excavation, trenching, and shoring;




Ninety percent or more of the job's work time is spent operating the on-board hydro-vacuum system outside the truck performing non-destructive excavation around sensitive underground piping and cables.;
Other Hydrovac work consists of tank entry, cleaning and vacuuming, mobilization of equipment, attending training sessions, paperwork, truck maintenance, safety meetings, etc.;
Rigging equipment in and out;
Performing pre and post trip inspections;
Completing all required paperwork on a daily basis
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions;
work near moving mechanical parts;
work in high, precarious places;
fumes or airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold;
extreme heat;
riskof radiation and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
