3 fully funded PhD positions available in the HERMES Project at the University of Bologna

The N-REX Group, Department of Physics, University of Bologna, is recruiting three PhD candidates to work on advanced materials for photoelectrocatalysis, solar fuels, and solar energy conversion.
The positions are part of the FIS 2023 Consolidator Grant HERMES — High-Throughput Exploration of Rising Materials for photoElectroChemical Solar fuels production .

Research topics include:
• Selective solar fuels production enabled by high-throughput photoelectrochemical methods
• Combinatorial synthesis of photoelectrode materials libraries and heterostructures
• Semiconductor photoanodes for solar energy conversion
• Development of high-throughput operando methodologies to study materials and interfaces
• Thin-film deposition, PEC characterization, operando/in situ spectroscopy, and structure–property–performance relationships

The projects will be carried out in a strongly interdisciplinary environment at the interface of physics, chemistry, and materials science, with opportunities to work on experimental materials research, thin-film synthesis, spectroscopy, electrochemistry, and device-level investigation.

Candidates with a background in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Materials Engineering , or related fields are encouraged to apply.
