By embracing diversity, we believe science can achieve its fullest potential. **THE ROLE** We are seeking a highly motivated Lab Technician to join our cutting-edge research teams, focusing on the development of technologies for efficient material recovery from waste and the creation of sustainable materials from renewable resources. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects aimed at promoting sustainability and the circular economy in a multidisciplinary working environment. Key Responsibilities: - Scale up the recovery of valuable natural polymers such as cellulose and chitin from diverse biomass sources using mechanical and chemical methods.
- Advance chemical and mechanical recycling technologies for plastics and bioplastics, enhancing their properties with green additives and developing new materials.
- Develop new thermoset and vitrimer materials from recovered oils through catalytic green chemistry processes.
- Engineer food packaging materials from recovered raw materials and recycled plastics, incorporating smart packaging solutions with sensors for food quality monitoring. **ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Master degree in Material Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in mechanical recycling technologies and polymer reprocessing.
- Expertise in biomass processing, polymer and biopolymer processing, and green chemistry using industrial technologies.
- Strong experimental skills in chemical processing and materials characterization techniques.
- Experience in lab management and maintaining safety protocols.
- Previous collaboration with industrial partners is highly appreciated.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- High attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage time and priorities effectively. **ADDITIONAL SKILLS**
- PhD in Material Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or a related field.
- Experience in insert additional desirable experience.
- Knowledge of insert desirable software systems knowledge or remove.
- Ability to work in a challenging and international environment.
- Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment.
