Director, Supply Chain Excellence & Logistics

Pubblicato il 02-08-2026 - Vertiv in Piove di sacco

Job Description

The Director of Supply Chain Excellence & Logistics will own end-to-end accountability for the intersection of supply chain performance, logistics optimization, long‑range capacity planning, data sanctity and digital transformation across EMEA Procurement. The director will support architecting a data‑driven supply chain capability that converts disruption into competitive advantage for Vertiv.

Responsibilities

- End‑to‑End Supply Chain Strategy – Own and drive the EMEA Procurement supply chain strategy, translating Vertiv’s 2X revenue ambition into a structured multi‑year roadmap covering supplier capacity planning, logistics network design, risk mitigation and digital enablement. Review and update annually with BU Directors, VP Procurement and Operations leadership.
- Logistics Optimization & Cost Management – Lead end‑to‑end optimisation of EMEA procurement logistics: inbound freight, cross‑border flows, carrier selection and modal cost management. Logistics represents ~ €63M (5.1%) of current managed spend. Engage the Logistics team to develop carrier strategies, benchmark modal costs and implement lean solutions aligned with Vertiv’s ESG targets.
- Supplier Capacity Planning & Risk Management – Build and maintain a structured supplier capacity planning programme across all EMEA categories. Define critical supplier segmentation (e.g. strategic, leverage, bottleneck, transactional). Drive capacity reservation agreements with Procurement leads. Maintain a live risk register covering geopolitical challenges, extended lead‑time and commodity exposure with quantified financial impact and active mitigation plans.
- Supply Chain Performance Governance – Work with the Head of Supply Chain Performance to establish and govern a consistent EMEA‑wide scorecard: on‑time delivery, lead‑time variance, order fulfilment accuracy, buffer stock effectiveness and supply disruption frequency. Escalate deviations to VP level with root‑cause analysis and corrective action within agreed SLAs.
- Stocking & Buffer Programmes – Design, implement and continuously optimise stocking strategies: consignment, vendor‑managed inventory (VMI), safety‑stock frameworks and strategic pre‑buy for commodity‑exposed categories. Quantify working capital implications and present trade‑off recommendations to Finance and Operations leadership.
- Digital Transformation & Data Infrastructure – Own the SC digital transformation agenda for EMEA Procurement: drive adoption of supply chain analytics, ERP‑based planning tools, supplier portals and AI‑assisted tools.

Define data architecture requirements for a single EMEA supply chain visibility layer and partner with IT and global Procurement Technology to deliver it. Target: real‑time supplier capacity and lead‑time visibility for the top 200 strategic suppliers by end‑2027.
- Cross‑Functional Stakeholder Alignment – Act as the primary supply chain interface between EMEA Procurement and Vertiv’s manufacturing and commercial functions. Represent EMEA Procurement in SIOP, NPI stage‑gates and executive supply risk reviews. Build trusted relationships at Director/VP level across and with Plant Directors in Tognana, Nove Mesto, Zagreb and Ireland.
- Team Leadership & Succession Planning – Lead, develop and hold accountable a direct team of 4‑5 managers with an extended team of 15‑20 FTE. Establish individual development plans, succession pathways and SMART performance objectives for all direct reports.
- Investment Cases & Executive Reporting – Build and present structured business cases for supply chain investments (stocking programmes, logistics contracts, technology platforms) to VP Procurement EMEA and senior Vertiv leadership. Report monthly on SC performance metrics, risk status and strategic initiative progress. Contribute to the annual Project Superion investment review and organisational effectiveness assessment.

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering (Mechanical / Industrial / Electrical), Business Administration or a related technical discipline.
- Master’s degree (MBA or MSc in Operations Management / Supply Chain Management) strongly preferred. Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management and sourcing strategies.
- Professional certification advantageous: CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply), CSCP (APICS) or equivalent globally recognised supply chain credential.
- Green Belt required; commitment to obtain Black Belt within an agreed time frame.

Experience

- Minimum 12–15 years of progressive supply chain and/or procurement experience, including at least 5 years in a Director‑level or equivalent senior leadership role within a global manufacturing or industrial organisation.
- Track record of building and executing end‑to‑end supply chain strategy in a complex, multi‑site,

multi‑country EMEA or global environment, with accountability for €500M+ in procurement or managed spend.
- Hands‑on experience managing third‑party logistics, inbound freight and logistics contract negotiations across multiple EMEA geographies. Exposure to the Middle East, Eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Romania, Croatia) and South Asia (India) supply chains is a significant advantage.
- Proven experience leading supply chain disruption response: extended lead‑time management (China), geopolitical supply interruption and commodity price volatility (copper, aluminium) at scale.
- Experience designing and implementing stocking programmes, VMI arrangements, safety‑stock frameworks and capacity reservation agreements with strategic suppliers in a manufacturing context.
- Prior ownership of a supply chain digital transformation programme: ERP optimisation (SAP, Oracle or equivalent), supply chain analytics implementation, supplier portal deployment or AI/ML‑assisted planning tools.
- Experience leading geographically distributed, multi‑cultural teams.
- Commercially literate and financially grounded: ability to build executive‑level investment business cases, translate supply chain risk into quantified financial exposure and negotiate at C‑suite level.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this role in the Nové Mesto nad Váhom locality is €63,927 to €79,900 gross per year. Salary ranges may vary for other localities.
