As a Senior Security Engineer, you will act as the technical security lead for Kong Cloud, applying deep expertise in high-performance networking and distributed systems. You will shape the security posture of the world’s popular API gateway by advancing OSS‑driven network and application security initiatives. You’ll collaborate with product and architecture teams to drive a strategic security roadmap across multi‑cloud and hybrid environments. This role challenges you to balance OSS community needs with enterprise requirements while mentoring engineers in secure coding and secure design. Responsibilities

- 5+ years in Cybersecurity Engineering with focus on high‑traffic infrastructure or API management
- Expert knowledge of multi‑cloud design and securing traffic across cloud providers and Kubernetes
- Proven experience designing/deploying WAF, IDS, IPS systems at scale
- Proficient in Python, Go or Rust
- Experience contributing to or maintaining open‑source security projects is a plus
- Strong ability to produce high‑performance security designs that maintain low latency
