Experteer Overview As a Senior Airport Planner at Arup, you will lead airport spatial planning and demand analyses, shaping master plans for both Italy and international contexts. You'll work within the Infrastructure team and the Europe & EIMEA Aviation Planning group to deliver robust, data-driven aviation solutions. The role blends technical analysis with project leadership and business development, offering exposure to large-scale hubs and diverse clients. This is an opportunity to influence planning direction, tools, and strategic decisions in a globally connected practice.
Responsibilities Lead airport spatial plans and initial design concepts
Undertake Demand/Capacity Analysis and develop facility requirements
Manage and deliver multiple tasks and projects including coordination
Lead business development in Airport Planning and Simulation in Italy and beyond
Represent Arup in client meetings and contribute to master plans and planning studies
Develop planning alternatives for airfield, terminal, cargo, and landside elements
Plan aprons and airside infrastructure, including capacity assessments and stakeholder engagement
Collaborate with Architecture, terminal planning, and engineering disciplines
Refine in-house planning tools and develop new analytical approaches
Support preparation of program definitions, studies, and reports
Qualifications 6-10 years of airport planning experience
Experience with airport master planning, facilities requirements, and due diligence
Strong project management and coordination skills
Proficiency in CAD and 3D modelling (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit)
Experience with airport operations, airspace, and navigation aids
Excellent Excel/data analysis and Office skills
Fluent in English and Italian; other languages desirable
Knowledge of ICAO, EASA, IATA standards and interpretation
Ability to lead large-scale aviation planning projects within budget and schedule
