They are looking for an experienced strongVAT Manager /strong to become the in-house technical lead for Italy. /pp
This is not a high-volume VAT return preparation role.
Instead, you'll provide technical leadership on complex Italian VAT matters, support international teams, improve compliance processes, liaise with tax authorities and play a key role in shaping the future of the firm's VAT offering. /ppbr/pp
You'll also have the opportunity to broaden your expertise through involvement in tax advisory, e-invoicing, tax technology and wider international tax projects. /ppbr/ppstrong Responsibilities /strong /pulli
Act as the in-house technical specialist for Italian VAT matters /lili
Support compliance teams with complex or non-standard VAT issues /lili
Lead tax authority audits and enquiries, acting as the primary point of contact with the strong
Agenzia delle Entrate /strong /lili
Oversee VAT refund claims and related correspondence /lili
Review and quality assure complex VAT filings /lili
Develop, document and improve internal VAT compliance processes and quality standards /lili
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring the wider business remains informed and compliant /lili
Provide technical guidance and training to colleagues across international teams /lili
Act as the escalation point for jurisdiction-specific client queries /lili
Support tax advisory work, e-invoicing initiatives and wider international tax projects /lili
Drive continuous improvement across processes, controls and service delivery /li /ulpbr/ppstrong Requirements /strong /pulli8+ years' experience in taxation, with strong expertise in Italian VAT /lili
Extensive experience in VAT compliance and VAT refund processes /lili
Proven experience managing tax authority audits and enquiries /lili
Relevant degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Law or a related discipline /lili
Relevant degree together with recognised tax advisor status or equivalent professional tax qualification in Italy. /lili
Fluent Italian and professional-level English /lili
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills /lili
Process-driven mindset with a passion for improving systems and quality /lili
