Senior Data Engineer – Azure | Milan, Italy

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Information Systems & Digital team in Milan. In this role, you will design and implement scalable cloud data solutions, supporting business-critical initiatives in an international consulting environment.

Your responsibilities

- Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory.
- Build and maintain modern data architectures on the Microsoft Azure platform.
- Develop and manage ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from multiple sources.
- Design and optimize data models for analytical and reporting purposes.
- Manage Azure data services, including Azure SQL Database and Azure Data Lake Storage.
- Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance across cloud environments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines to improve performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with data analysts, BI developers, software engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver end-to-end data solutions.
- Support the implementation of data integration best practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the data platform.
- Produce technical documentation and mentor junior team members when required.

Your profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- At least 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly:
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure SQL Database
- Azure Data Lake Storage
- Azure Storage Accounts
- Excellent knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
- Proven experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT solutions.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and cloud-based data architectures.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization of data pipelines.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and Azure DevOps is considered a plus.
- Experience with Power BI is appreciated.
- Fluent in English and Italian.




- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Based in Milan or surrounding areas, or willing to work in the area.

Nice to have
- Experience with Databricks, Synapse Analytics, or Microsoft Fabric.
- Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate).
- Previous experience in consulting or international projects.

Compensation & Pay Transparency
- Gross Annual Salary: €26,000 – €50,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Applicable Collective Agreement: CCNL Commercio.
- Compensation is determined using objective and gender-neutral criteria.
