OHB Italia is a key player in the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge telescopic systems supporting global Space Situational Awareness (SSA), Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST), and Near-Earth Object (NEO) observation initiatives. Our Telescope Department is leading the deployment of high-performance telescopes in some of the most iconic and pristine observatory locations worldwide.

We are currently seeking a motivated and hands-on AIT (Assembly, Integration and Test) Engineer to join our growing team. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in assembling, aligning, testing, and commissioning our telescopes both at our facilities and at remote international observatory sites.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As an AIT Engineer, you will:

- Execute Integration & Test activities of medium-sized telescopes, including opto-mechanical subsystems, both in-house and on-site.
- Conduct optical alignment and calibration, working closely with optical and system engineers to ensure high-precision setup.
- Prepare AIT documentation, including test procedures, integration workflows, reports and as-run procedures.
- Handle critical assemblies, including optical mounts, structural elements, and Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
- Participate in night observation campaigns and system verification tests under real sky conditions.
- Support technical reviews and meetings, contributing to design improvement feedback based on hands-on test results.




- Coordinate with logistics and operations teams for the setup and support of site installation missions globally.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Degree (Bachelor or Master) in Engineering, Aerospace, Physics or related fields.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in AIT or system integration environments.
- Practical experience with mechanical and optical handling and alignment.
- Basic proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA).
- Skilled in using MS Office and standard reporting tools.
- Strong teamworking attitude, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot integration issues and propose effective solutions.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple concurrent tasks and schedules.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus.
- Willingness to travel extensively and remain on-site for medium to long-term international missions (up to several weeks or months).

The gross annual remuneration package will be determined based on the degree of alignment between the candidate’s profile and the requirements of the role, as well as the level of professional experience acquired. The salary range is therefore as follows:

€32,000–€60,000
