AWS is set to introduce the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a significant development in Utility Computing (UC). To spearhead this initiative, we are actively seeking experienced systems engineers with a strong background in cloud operations. As part of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in building and leading operations and development teams dedicated to delivering high?availability AWS services, including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, exclusively for EU customers. For more information on ESC, see our blog: Responsibilities * Oversee the launch of the ESC in ****. * Work closely with global AWS teams. * Influence the evolution of AWS services and technology. * Review operational health of services on a weekly basis. * Investigate anomalies and produce actionable bug reports. * Implement and execute changes following change?management processes. * Resolve backlog of operational issues. * Develop scripts to accelerate root?cause analysis. * Participate in on?call rotations to resolve out?of?hours incidents. Qualifications * National of an EU member state.



* Bachelor's degree in computer science or related IT discipline (or equivalent industry experience). * Fluency in written and spoken English. * Experience scripting (Bash, Python, or Ruby) or software development (Java, TypeScript, or similar), coupled with Linux and networking fundamentals. * Knowledge or experience operating services in AWS or other cloud systems. * Experience operating 24×7 high?availability distributed software applications, performance tuning, and fleet utilization & monitoring frameworks such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic. * Experience with Infrastructure as Code (CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar). * Ability to execute standard operating procedures and follow operational best practices. * Relocation within the EU supported by Amazon (eligible candidates). * Will participate in an on?call rota.
