A Research fellow position is available in the Group of Cardiac Development, Remodeling and Regeneration under the supervision of Prof. Paola Cattaneo. The group is part of the University of Milan a center of Excellence and one of the biggest University in Italy and is located at the Monzino Cardiology Center in Milan, Italy.

The research focus of the Cattaneo group is to decipher mechanisms by which transcription factors, regulatory elements and epigenetic enzymes orchestrate heart development, regeneration and cardiac fibrosis.
One position is available on a project focusing on understanding epigenetic mechanisms controlling cardiac development. The specific project will include analyses of mouse models and induced pluripotent stem cells using a variety of molecular and epigenetic techniques.
Prospective start date: October 2026
The contract is initially of 12 year with possibility of extension.
Salary scale is to be determined based on previous work experience.
The position is based in Milan, Italy.
Main Tasks:
· Cloning and advanced models of gene editing.
· Molecular biology experiments to generate RNA-seq, ChIP-seq and ATAC-seq datasets
· Bioinformatic analysis
· Mentoring of students and junior fellows.
· Support for grant applications, project reports and paper preparation.
· Participation in International collaborative projects.
General requirements:
· Degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or similar subjects.
· Strong technical skills in molecular and cellular biology.
· Previous experience in the field of cardiovascular research is preferred but not necessary
· Previous experience in mouse handling and FELASA accreditation is highly recommended
· Previous experience in epigenetic approaches and bioinformatics is considered a plus.
· Organizational skills, time efficient, good communication skills and open mind.
· Independent working method but also team-oriented work.
· Strong analytical skills and a creative, problem solving-oriented mindset are required.
· Good knowledge of verbal and written English
· The successful candidate is expected to be ambitious, hard-working, flexible and driven by scientific curiosity.
