Overview System Engineer role within Hitachi Rail's Rolling Stock Engineering Department. Based in Pistoia or Napoli - IT. Responsibilities * Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS) * Define and manage system interfaces (internal and external) throughout the project lifecycle * Analyze and assess technical documentation from suppliers * Prepare and verify system installation/integration drawings/specifications * Conduct design reviews (internal and with suppliers) for the assigned onboard systems under supervision of Engineering Managers and Project Engineers * Prepare Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) and Functional Test Specifications (FTS) including performance tests for the assigned onboard systems * Attend system standalone type tests and review type test reports * Support onboard integration, performance testing and validation phases * Review design documentation with customers and suppliers * Ensure compliance with input requirements, international railway regulations and standards and project constraints (time, cost, quality) * Prepare documentation required for vehicle approval and support the homologation phase Required Skills/Knowledge * Experience (3-5 years)



in the railway sector or in complex industrial environments * Good knowledge of main railway regulations and standards * Good knowledge of IBM DOORS requirements management tool * Good knowledge of engineering processes and railway operations * Good knowledge of system engineering and requirements management disciplines * Good knowledge of RAMS principles and processes * Good knowledge of design verification and validation methodologies * Good knowledge of electrical / mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Creo, Catia, etc.) * Good knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering disciplines * Good knowledge of office automation software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) * Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, international and multicultural environment * Good organizational skills, along with teamwork, problem-solving and results-driven mindset * Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers, partners, customers) * Ability to work within project teams under minimal supervision * Availability for occasional short-term national and international business trips Desired Skills/Knowledge * Fast learner with strong willingness to stay up to date with technological developments * Good business acumen combined with solid technical skills * Good communication and interpersonal skills Education/Qualifications Master's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics disciplines preferred). Languages Knowledge of written and spoken English (at least B2 level). Level and collective agreements: the respective national contract applies for metalworking industry and installation of plants with level B2.
