Mechanical Engineer – Power Distribution Cabinet Design
Location:
Castel Guelfo (BO), Italy
Vertiv is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design and produce large Power Distribution Cabinets and Power Switching Cabinets for data center applications. The candidate will work on Engineered?to?Order (ETO) projects, ensuring manufacturability, schedule, and cost targets while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Create 3?D models using sheet metal and part modeling functionality in CAD.
Create complex drawings and bills of material for sheet metal, bus bar, and assemblies.
Write, submit, and release Engineering Change Orders for new and released product documentation in CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) database using revision control.
Collaborate with cross?functional groups to achieve project goals.
Interpret agency design standards (e.G., UL) for products.
Create order lists for prototype units and ensure material is received with Project Managers.
Work with ETO Engineering Supervisor on task lists and priorities.
Interact with ETO team members to efficiently break down tasks, discuss design ideas, and resolve issues.
Occasionally contact outside vendors and suppliers as needed.
Possess general knowledge of single and three?phase power.
Interpret schematics with electrical components such as fuses and circuit breakers.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience.
Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of relevant experience.




High School Diploma and 15+ years of relevant experience.
Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills;
team?oriented and able to work in a fast?paced environment.
Solid?state 3?D CAD experience is required;
proficiency in Solid Edge or Creo with sheet?metal experience preferred.
Oracle PLM experience is a plus, with willingness to be trained.
Simulation experience (ANSYS, thermal/airflow) is a plus.
Benefits & Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this role in Castel Guelfo (BO), Italy is between €33,000 and €41,000 gross per year (based on a 40?hour work week). Certain roles may be eligible for additional benefits. Compensation ranges are determined by objective, gender?neutral criteria including skills, experience, and job responsibilities.
