Technical Buyer
.
The Role
The
Technical Buyer
is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, components, equipment, manufacturing services and technical services required for the execution of the Company's engineered-to-order projects.
Working in close cooperation with Engineering, Proposal, Project Management, Planning, Quality and Production, the Technical Buyer ensures that procurement activities meet the required technical specifications, quality standards, project schedules and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the complete procurement process, from purchase requisition through purchase order placement, ensuring compliance with company procedures and project schedules.
Review technical specifications, drawings and procurement documentation, working closely with Engineering and Project Management to identify the most suitable sourcing solutions.
Identify, qualify and develop national and international suppliers, evaluating their technical capabilities, manufacturing capacity, quality standards, commercial competitiveness and delivery performance.
Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs),
perform technical and commercial bid evaluations, and negotiate pricing, commercial terms, delivery schedules and contractual conditions with suppliers.
Procure fabricated steel structures, machining services, mechanical components, industrial equipment, instruments, valves, motors, gearboxes, bearings and other technical commodities used in the manufacturing of industrial equipment and engineered systems.
Cooperate with the Expediting function to monitor purchase order execution, proactively managing critical issues to ensure compliance with project milestones and delivery commitments.
Support the Quality Department in supplier qualification activities, supplier performance evaluations and the resolution of supplier non-conformities.
Continuously monitor supplier markets, commodity price trends and sourcing opportunities, proposing cost optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure the correct management and updating of procurement data and documentation within the company's ERP system.
Carry out procurement activities in compliance with company procedures, applicable regulations and contractual requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a professional with proven experience as a
Technical Buyer
, gained within manufacturing companies involved in the design and production of industrial machinery,
equipment or engineered systems operating in an
Engineered-to-Order (ETO)
environment.
The ideal candidate has solid experience in technical procurement, is capable of independently managing supplier negotiations and works effectively with engineering and project teams.
The successful candidate should possess:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Economics or a related discipline, or a technical diploma combined with significant professional experience.
Good autonomy in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
Experience in purchasing fabricated steel structures, machining services, mechanical components, industrial equipment and the main commodity categories used in the manufacturing of industrial machinery and engineered systems.
Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Good command of written and spoken English.
Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with
Microsoft Dynamics 365
will be considered an advantage.
