Laboratory Technician (Refrigeration)Role Purpose: The Laboratory Technician operates within the Innovation Lab, the company area dedicated to performing functional and performance testing on electronic devices used for the control and regulation of commercial refrigeration systems (e.G., refrigerated display cases, bottle coolers, condensing units, etc.).
The role is responsible for the preparation, execution, and validation of functional tests for electronic controllers, both on prototypes and on products intended for market release, once installed in final applications.
In addition, the position actively supports the development of new products, with a focus on improving overall performance and quality.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze technical documentation and identify the resources required for test executionDefine and plan test procedures and test plansPrepare test benches, including wiring modifications, installation and positioning of measurement instrumentationExecute functional tests, performance tests, and validation activities on electronic controllers installed in real refrigeration systemsMonitor, collect, and analyze test dataPrepare detailed technical reports, including configurations, methodologies, and resultsSupport product development, prototyping, and system tuning activitiesManage, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipmentHandle laboratory technical documentationCollaborate with cross?functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance) and international teamsTechnical RequirementsKnowledge of refrigeration cycle principles and key components (compressors, evaporators, condensers, valves, refrigerants,



etc.)Understanding of commercial refrigeration applicationsExperience with measurement instrumentation and data acquisition systemsBasic knowledge of electronics, with the ability to operate electronic systemsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics (controllers and applications)Basic experience measuring, interpreting, and verifying electrical signals and I/O functionality of electronic controllersGood knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience in laboratory testing or engineering environmentsKnowledge of relevant industry standardsFamiliarity with advanced data acquisition tools and analysis softwareExperience with automation systems or programmable controllersBasic technical English proficiencySoft SkillsStrong teamwork and cross?functional collaboration skillsHands?on attitude and problem?solving mindsetAccuracy and attention to detail in testing and analysis activitiesOrganizational skills and ability to manage prioritiesProactivity and ability to interact with different stakeholdersEducationTechnical diploma (electronics or electrical engineering) or equivalent qualification with relevant practical experienceBackground or experience in thermodynamics/refrigeration is considered an assetEqual Opportunity EmployerCopeland is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
