**Work Schedule** Standard (Mon-Fri) **Environmental Conditions** Office **Group / Division Summary: SDG / Protein Diagnostics** **ThIs role can be EMEA based with regular travel to Birmingham, UK Headquarters.** **Position Summary**: The Sr. Dir. Research and Development for Protein Diagnostics will drive the PDX business new product strategy. **Key Responsibilities**: - Own the New Product Development (NPD) projects by R&D; teams across the division to establish an agile network of skills and specialist capabilities
- Lead external engineering partners to supplement our internal core strengths with a strategic network of innovation suppliers
- Implement NPD plans based on industry standard processes, resulting in schedule, budget and specification alignment
- Responsible for creating a compelling technology roadmap to address market trends
- Lead internal innovation accelerator and incubator with the overarching goal to both de-risk projects and address or even create new markets
- Specifically focus on relevant technology push factors (e.g., artificial intelligence, etc )

- Champion an environment for conceptualization and innovation, agility and risk taking and demonstrating various innovation models from internal development, in-licensing, M&A; and cross-BU teamwork
- Promote a goal-oriented working environment through empowerment and motivation
- Develop, retain, and recruit outstanding talent in assay development and engineering while using complementary strengths of the organization to grow strong talent
- Travel: approximately 25% globally **Minimum Qualifications / Requirements**: - Bachelor’s degree and PhD. in Biochemistry, Immunology, or related field required is required
- Extensive R&D; experience, preferably in diagnostics
- Ability in a leadership role
- Confirmed expertise in a role involving formal verification, design transfer, and EU/US regulatory clearance of IVD
- Track record of innovation
- Proficient in English (reading and technical writing)
