This position is for a senior or associate editor covering cancer research, responsible for manuscript evaluation, peer‑review management, and engagement with the scientific community. /p h3Role Responsibilities /h3 ul liCritically evaluate research manuscripts and make initial editorial decisions – scientific comprehension, manuscript assessment. /li liSelect and engage peer reviewers, interpret their advice for post‑peer‑review editorial decisions – decision quality, critical scientific evaluation. /li liHelp prospective authors address reviewers’ feedback and streamline manuscript revision – collaboration, critical scientific evaluation. /li liEnsure authors and reviewers comply with professional, scientific and ethical standards, upholding internal and external policies – collaboration, interpersonal awareness. /li liWork closely with the chief editor and editorial team to make sound decisions, develop and execute the journal’s strategic plan, and contribute to achieving the journal’s goals – collaboration, interpersonal awareness, critical scientific evaluation. /li liMake timely decisions on manuscripts and adhere to internal processing deadlines – resilience, operational excellence.
/li liFoster relationships with Springer Nature teams across other journals, production, and related functions – collaboration. /li liWrite front‑half pieces for the journal such as editorials and research highlights, and edit research manuscripts – scientific academic writing. /li liSelect and participate in, and potentially co‑organise, international scientific meetings and conferences relevant to the journal’s scope – collaboration, interpersonal awareness. /li liEngage with the global scientific community through institutional and laboratory visits – collaboration, interpersonal awareness. /li liRespond promptly to requests from authors, reviewers, and colleagues – communication skills, operational excellence. /li liAdhere to and help improve internal editorial pipelines, processes and policies – operational excellence. /li /ul h3Experience, Skills Qualifications /h3 h3Essential /h3 ul liPhD in cancer research or oncology, or a PhD in biomedical research followed by postdoctoral experience in cancer research. /li liBroad interest in science and in‑depth knowledge of the cancer research field. /li liAbility to understand and critically evaluate research relevant to the journal’s scope. /li liFluency in spoken and written English.
