The Senior Engineering & Construction Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting engineering & construction risks, conducting risk assessments through preliminary data analysis and selection, and ensuring high-quality, timely responses to the sales network.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with commercial competence and will work closely with brokers, demonstrating excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills.

The position is based in Milan and reports directly to the Underwriting Director — Engineering & Construction.

Role responsibilities

- Handle quotation requests for various types of Engineering & Construction risks in line with the Line of Business risk appetite.
- Underwrite policies including CAR, EAR, IDI, Machinery Breakdown, Leasing, EEI, CPE, Property through technical analysis, risk evaluation, and pricing.
- Build and maintain relationships with the distribution network, comprising more than 1,200 agents and brokers.
- Support monitoring portfolio performance and underwriting results.
- Define and implement product and pricing strategies within the Line of Business.
- Review and analyze Loss Prevention and Technical Control reports.
- Deliver technical and commercial training and support to agents and brokers.
- Collaborate closely with the Claims team to ensure underwriting consistency and enhance service quality.

Key requirements

- Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering
- Significant experience in Engineering & Construction underwriting as a Senior Underwriter in and/or a solid experience in P&C; insurance sector (insurance companies, MGAs, brokers)
- Proactive, with strong commercial orientation and goal-focused attitude
- Excellent negotiation and relationship leadership skills.
- Fluent written and spoken English.

Compensation and Benefits





This role offers a gross annual salary in the range of EUR 65,000 to EUR 75,000, determined by your relevant experience and/or professional qualifications, as well as the scope and level of responsibility.

Variable Pay

In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for variable compensation, including an annual discretionary premio.

Collective Bargaining Agreement

Permanent contract. This role is governed by the “CCNL per i Dipendenti delle Agenzie di Assicurazione in Gestione Libera – UNAPASS – ANAPA” . The provisions of the “CCNL per i Dipendenti delle Agenzie di Assicurazione in Gestione Libera” applicable to this position, including benefits and “Quadro” classification, will apply and will be made available to candidates in advance of interview to support informed and transparent pay discussions.
