Senior Site Development Engineer – Milan, Italy
Arup’s infrastructure team delivers multi‑disciplinary design services across public and private projects, primarily in the Science, Industry, Technology, Property, Healthcare, Social Infrastructure and Sport sectors. Working in a BIM‑focused environment, designs are constructed in Civil3D and Revit and coordinated through a common data environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of site infrastructures for technically demanding projects in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Act as project lead, manage service delivery and maintain direct interface with the client’s teams.
- Liaise with clients from feasibility to completion to set and deliver design ambitions.
- Define site surveys and testing required to acquire site‑specific data for design.
- Develop the site infrastructure design through design stages, permitting and procurement processes.
- Supervise civil construction works as part of the clerk‑of‑works team.
- Participate in business development activities – client meetings, bid documentation and business growth initiatives.
- Mentor and develop colleagues, sharing knowledge to deliver high‑quality service.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience within a consultancy environment.
- Chartered professional status or in the process of gaining qualification.
- Strong civil engineering technical design skills in surface water, foul water, energy, roads & carparks, earthworks, electrical and fibre utilities.
- Experience in producing drawings,
specifications and reports within time and budget constraints.
- Knowledge of the Italian regulatory and planning framework and experience managing civil engineering projects through the planning process.
- Ability to lead and manage the design process from conceptual layout to detailed design and construction.
- Experience managing internal and external design interfaces (architectural, structural, geotechnical, landscape, mechanical, electrical).
- Passion for digital delivery – proficient in Civil3D/Revit, BIM software, Navisworks, clash detection and hydraulic modelling software.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation and organisational skills.
