Country Manager, Italy - REMOTE POSITION - ITALY
ROLE SUMMARY
The Country Manager, Italy, is responsible for supporting GBTA’s strategic growth and stakeholder engagement within the Italian market. This role will work closely with regional leadership, members, volunteers, and cross-functional teams to execute country-wide strategies, drive membership and sponsorship growth, manage budgets and reporting, and ensure effective governance and communications. The Country Manager serves as the primary market lead for Italy, advancing the association’s mission, strengthening partnerships, and delivering high-impact programs and events aligned with regional and global objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the association leadership, regional staff, and Italian GBTA members to develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for the Italian market.
- Track progress towards strategic objectives and operational plans, adapting and developing contingency plans as needed.
- Prepare and propose budgets for income and expenditure aligned with regional goals and historical performance.
- Monitor and assist in the management of Italy Regional finances, ensuring adherence to budget allocations and compliance with financial regulations.
- Generate regular reports to provide transparency and track performance.
- Develop and execute a regional membership growth plan, attracting new members and exceeding membership acquisition goals.
- Coordinate the creation and support of volunteer working groups and committees, leveraging their expertise to advance the association's strategy. Oversee Italy volunteer and board governance.
- Manage Italy advisory board meetings and calls, coordinating agendas, minutes, and supporting board members in resource development.
- Collaborate with Communications & PR and Marketing teams to develop and execute integrated regional communication, media, and marketing strategies that promote regional objectives, events, and brand awareness in the Italian market.
- Develop sponsorship programs and benefits, to attract long-term and annual sponsors for regional conferences and events.
- Identify and cultivate new partnership opportunities that align with the association’s objectives in the market.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in business, event management, marketing, project management, or related field experience.
- 7+ years of regional sales and marketing, project management and/or event experience.
- Strong understanding of customer segmentation, journey mapping, and CRM-driven lifecycle marketing.
- Proven ability to translate complex offerings into clear, differentiated value propositions.
- Data-driven mindset with experience leveraging analytics and insights for marketing decisions.
- Exceptional cross-functional collaboration.
- Multilingual - Advanced English written and spoken communication skills.
- Valid Passport.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Master’s degree.
- Association and/or travel industry knowledge preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Prolonged periods sitting/remaining stationary at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to remain stationary and move for long periods of time,
during events.
- Must be able to work a variety of hours in order to accommodate events.

TRAVEL REQUIRED
- Up to 10%; Travel to regional events, US-located internal meetings, or other GBTA events/meetings, as needed.
Remote, Italy-based required. Active Passport required.
