Project Management Intern

04 ago - Milano
Blue Oak Consulting

This Project Management Intern position is designed to support our teams as they help clients challenge their internal financial assumptions and investment cases. Our partner is a major healthcare provider currently reviewing its capital allocation strategy, and you will work within a fully remote structure to ensure this complex project remains organized and focused on identifying hidden commercial risks.

About Blue Oak

Consulting

Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient.

Our team looks past corporate language and P&L; complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results.

We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction.

The Role

As an intern in this role, you will be in the middle of our project lifecycles, moving from initial data collection to the final execution phase.

You will support our principals by tracking timelines and organizing the vast amount of documentation that comes with scrutinizing a multi-million dollar acquisition or pricing overhaul. This is not about managing people or presenting flashy slides, but about ensuring the logic of a project stays intact and that no detail is lost as we pressure-test financial models.

You will work from your own location as part of our distributed team, coordinating with seniors to keep every workstream on track.

What You Will Be

Doing

Assisting in the collection and organization of client data sets for analysis.

Tracking project milestones and ensuring that all assumption-testing tasks are completed on schedule.

Maintaining detailed records of meeting outcomes and action items related to capital allocation decisions.

Performing basic data entry and cleanup to support our financial modeling work.

Monitoring communication channels to ensure client queries are addressed promptly by the team.

Helping prepare concise status reports that highlight potential roadblocks or data gaps.

Documenting the internal logic used during acquisition reviews to ensure transparency for the client.

Updating project documentation as assumptions change throughout the execution phase.

Coordinating schedules for deep-dive sessions between our principals and client stakeholders.

What You

Bring A current student or recent graduate in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

Strong organizational skills and an ability to stay focused while handling multiple spreadsheets.

A natural curiosity for how businesses make money and where they lose it.

Basic proficiency in Excel and a willingness to learn more advanced data management techniques.

Clear, direct communication style that avoids unnecessary fluff or jargon.

The ability to work independently in a fully remote environment without constant supervision.

An eye for detail that allows you to spot inconsistencies in reports or project timelines.

Comfort with a skeptical, evidence-based approach to problem-solving.

What We

Offer A fully remote work environment that offers flexibility and eliminates the daily commute.

Direct access to and mentorship from senior principals with extensive advisory experience.

Exposure to high-stakes commercial decisions that go beyond standard academic theory.

Hands-on experience with how large-scale acquisitions and pricing strategies are actually vetted.

A culture that values evidence and honesty over corporate politics or hierarchy.

Competitive compensation for an internship role, reflecting the level of responsibility and attention required.

Practical training in professional project management tools and financial scrutiny techniques. Working at Blue Oak Consulting means being part of a team that cares more about the truth of a spreadsheet than the comfort of a boardroom. We believe that by being skeptical of the status quo, we provide a service that is genuinely valuable to our clients.

As a Project Management Intern, you will see exactly how those difficult conversations happen and how we turn complex data into clear, actionable advice. Our remote model allows us to focus entirely on the quality of our analysis rather than the logistics of an office, ensuring that your work contributes directly to the success of our client engagements.
