: Nutrition Associate Nutrition Associate will report to: Nutrition Program Manager The Nutrition Associate supports the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of nutrition activities to improve the nutritional status of vulnerable populations. The role involves community outreach, screening, referral, data management, and coordination with health facilities and stakeholders to ensure quality nutrition services.
Key Responsibilities: Program Implementation 1. Support the planning and implementation of nutrition interventions in accordance with organizational and donor guidelines.
- Conduct active case finding and community-based screening for malnutrition using MUAC and other approved tools.
- Assist in the admission, follow-up, and referral of beneficiaries requiring nutrition services. 4.
Support
Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) activities and nutrition education sessions.
- Participate in outreach activities and awareness campaigns on nutrition and healthy feeding practices.
- Ensure adherence to CMAM and IYCF protocols and standards. Monitoring and Reporting i. Collect, compile, and verify nutrition program data and ensure timely reporting. ii. Maintain beneficiary records and update nutrition registers and databases. iii. Track key nutrition indicators and support routine monitoring activities. iv. Assist in conducting surveys, assessments, and post-distribution monitoring activities. v. Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports as required.
Community
Engagement and Coordination i.
Mobilize communities and engage caregivers to improve participation in nutrition programs. ii. Work closely with community volunteers, health workers, and local leaders to strengthen referrals and follow-up. iii.
Participate in coordination meetings with health facilities and relevant stakeholders. iv. Support feedback and complaint mechanisms to ensure accountability to affected populations. Supply and Commodity Management 1.
Monitor the availability of nutrition supplies and report stock shortages promptly.
- Support the receipt, storage, and distribution of therapeutic foods and nutrition commodities.
- Ensure proper documentation and accountability for nutrition supplies.
Capacity
Building and Quality Assurance 1. Support training and mentoring of community volunteers and frontline workers.
- Promote quality standards and best practices in nutrition programming.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safeguarding, and humanitarian principles.
Qualifications and Experience i. Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, Community Health, or a related field. ii. At least 1–3 years of experience in nutrition or health programming. iii. Knowledge of CMAM, IYCF, and community-based nutrition approaches. iv.
Experience with data collection and reporting tools. v. Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. vi. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management tools.
