As the organisation continues to expand its engineering capability, they are looking to add an experienced Optical Engineer to their multidisciplinary team. /p p This is an opportunity to work on the design, development, integration, and testing of high-performance optical systems used in demanding space applications. /p pb The Role /b /pp As an Optical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of optical systems from concept through to integration and verification. You'll collaborate closely with mechanical, systems, electronics, and manufacturing engineers to ensure optical performance is achieved throughout the product lifecycle. /p pb Key Responsibilities /b /pulli Design and develop optical systems and optical assemblies for aerospace applications. /lili Perform optical modelling, performance analysis, and engineering trade-off studies. /lili Conduct tolerance analyses and optimise designs for manufacture and integration. /lili Define optical performance budgets and verification approaches. /lili Develop optical alignment concepts, procedures, and test methodologies.
/lili Specify optical components and support supplier selection and technical reviews. /lili Support assembly, integration, alignment, and environmental testing activities. /lili Carry out optical performance assessments and radiometric analyses. /lili Produce clear engineering documentation, including design reports, test procedures, and technical specifications. /lili Work closely with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and project stakeholders throughout development. /li /ul pb About You /b /pp We're looking for engineers with a passion for optical systems and space technology who enjoy solving complex engineering challenges. /pp Essential Skills /pulli Degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline. /lili At least 3 years' experience in optical engineering. /lili Experience designing and analysing precision optical systems. /lili Knowledge of optical modelling and performance analysis. /lili Experience with optical alignment and laboratory test setups. /lili Understanding of optical metrology techniques. /lili Proficiency with optical design software such as b Zemax /b . /lili Experience with stray-light analysis tools is advantageous. /lili Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. /li /ul pb Desirable Experience /b /pulli Experience with telescope or imaging system design. /lili Familiarity with optical manufacturing and precision assembly processes. /lili Programming experience with MATLAB and/or Python. /lili Previous experience within the aerospace or space sector. xrdbqlu /li /ul p If you are interested, please get in touch and apply today. /pp Email: /p /p /p
