Palazzo Santoro: WATERways Residency 2026 for Visual and Performance Artists (Italy)
WATERways is a 30-days artist residency hosted by Palazzo Santoro (Bojano, Molise, Italy) from 1–30 September 2026.
The residency is funded by the European Union through Culture Moves Europe programme, as managed by the Goethe-Institut. Palazzo Santoro, as beneficiary of the EU grant, will coordinate and manage the residency programme.
WATERways invites three visual and performance artists to explore and reinterpret Molise’s water heritage through research-based and site-responsive artistic practices.
The goal is to nurture transformative connections among artists, rural territories and the local community, exploring rivers, lakes and waterfalls, artists create site-specific performances and visual documentation.



They are looking for artists interested in research-based and place-responsive practices, who are eager to develop new work through direct encounters with landscapes, communities, and the cultural meanings of water. The residency offers time and space for experimentation, dialogue, and exchange, culminating in the a final festival where artistic outcome are presented.
Applicants must legally and permanently reside in one of the Creative Europe eligible countries (excluding Italy).
The residency includes:
- A private room with private bathroom
- Access to common kitchen
- Access to a 1400 m² workspace
- Mentorship and local network support
- Opportunities to collaborate with local community and audience
