Data Centre Electrical Design Manager - Italy. Help shape the electrical architecture behind the next generation of Data Centre and AI infrastructure across Southern Europe. Our client is a major global power infrastructure business making serious, long-term investment in Data Centres. With growing capability across critical power, electrical distribution, modular infrastructure and advanced cooling, the business is building a genuine end-to-end proposition for hyperscale, colocation and AI-led developments. This is a highly visible, forward-facing role for an electrical design leader who wants to influence projects early, work directly with major customers and remain close to the engineering.The opportunityYou will lead the electrical design scope of complex Data Centre projects from concept and detailed design through construction support, commissioning and closeout.The role goes well beyond design coordination. You will help shape technical strategy, lead key engineering decisions and work with customers, consultants, contractors and internal specialists to develop resilient, efficient and scalable infrastructure.You will:Lead electrical design across major Data Centre projectsOwn critical decisions involving MV, LV, transformers, UPS and standby generationCoordinate electrical engineers and specialist technical contributorsReview and approve designs, calculations, reports and specificationsLead customer meetings, design reviews, optioneering and value engineeringSupport construction, installation and commissioning activitiesImprove design standards, engineering processes and technical qualityMentor engineers and contribute to the continued growth of the regional design functionWhat you will bringYou are likely to be working as a Data Centre Design Manager, Lead Electrical Engineer,
Principal Electrical Engineer or Electrical Engineering Manager.You will need:Strong electrical design experience within Data Centres or mission-critical infrastructureExperience leading projects through multiple design and delivery stagesDetailed knowledge of MV/LV distribution, transformers, UPS and generatorsThe ability to challenge, approve and take ownership of complex designsExperience coordinating engineers or multidisciplinary technical teamsConfidence working directly with customers and senior project stakeholdersProfessional fluency in English and ItalianA degree in Electrical Engineering or a related disciplineExperience with cooling, BMS, energy management, AutoCAD, Revit or high-density AI infrastructure would be beneficial.Why this role stands outThis is an opportunity to join a global engineering business that is actively expanding its position in Data Centre and AI infrastructure rather than simply maintaining an established product portfolio.
