By embracing diversity, we believe science can achieve its fullest potential. **THE ROLE** The **_GENOMIC SCIENCE_**_ _Research Unit is coordinated by Dr. Francesco Nicassio, who has extensive experience in **_Genomics_**_ and _**_Non-Coding RNA biology_**_._ The lab is engaged in a number of projects in areas of cancer genomics, development and stem cells focusing on the role of noncoding RNA transcripts. Importantly,
our research activity is based on the integration of **Experimental models** with **Computational methodologies**, pointing out the reciprocal regulation of coding and non-coding RNAs. - Unveiling the role of PUS7-mediated pseudouridylation in host protein interactions specific for the SARS-CoV-2 RNA genome - **Mol Ther Nucleic Acids.**2023 doi.org/10.1016/j.omtn.2023.102052 PMID: 38028201 Within the team, your **main responsibilities** will be: - Developing computational methods and analytical strategies to characterize non-coding RNA biology and RNA modifications in a broad range of biological contexts, such as regulation of epigenetic regulation, gene expression control,
biogenesis and maturation of microRNAs and mechanisms of cancer progression and chemo-resistance;
- Coordinating and co-supervising junior members of the lab, participating to meetings and being involved in disseminating results from the Research Unit **ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- PhD degree in a natural sciences discipline, such as Biology, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Physics, or similar;
- Documented experience in genomics, bioinformatics and scientific programming in R or Python;
- Good data analysis skills and a basic understanding of statistics;
- Ability to properly report and organize data;
- Good command in spoken and written English;
- Team-working ability;
- High motivation to learn;
- Experience on Nanopore sequencing. **ADDITIONAL SKILLS**
- Good level of knowledge on the biology of RNA modifications;
- Experience with bioinformatics workflow management tools such as Nextflow or SnakemakeGood communication skills;
- Strong problem-solving attitude;
- Spirit of innovation and creativity;
- Ability to work in a challenging and international environment;
