Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self‑motivated Junior System Engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks within our Rolling Stock Engineering Department. The position is based in Pistoia or Napoli - IT.Accountabilities
- Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS)
- Define and manage system interfaces (both internal and external) throughout the entire project lifecycle
- Analyze and assess technical documentation from Suppliers
- Prepare and verify system installation/integration drawings/specifications
- Conduct design reviews (both internal and with suppliers) for the assigned onboard systems, under the supervision of relevant Engineering Managers and Project Engineers
- Prepare Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS), as well as Functional Test Specifications (FTS) (including performance tests) for the assigned onboard systems
- Attend at system stand‑alone type test and review of type test reports
- Support onboard integration, performance testing and validation phases




- Review design documentation with customers and suppliers
- Ensure compliance with input requirements, international railway regulations and standards and project constraints (time, cost, quality)
- Prepare the documentation required for vehicle approval and support the homologation phase

Required Skills / Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of system engineering and requirements management disciplines
- Basic knowledge of design verification and validation methodologies
- Basic knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering disciplines
- Good knowledge of office automation software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast‑paced, international and multicultural environment
- Good organizational skills, alongside team‑working, problem‑solving and results‑driven mindset
