is looking for an enthusiastic
Telecom System Integration Engineer
self-motivated who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic.

.
Mission
The selected professional will be responsible for the end?to?end management of the OnBoard Passenger and Information System, including all integrated subsystems and ICT infrastructure.
The role ensures correct system configuration, operation, performance monitoring, interface validation, troubleshooting, and technical support during commissioning and maintenance phases.
Accountabilities
Manage and maintain the Onboard Passenger & Information System (OBIS) and all integrated subsystems.
Configure operating systems, network components, software services, and onboard devices.
Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and log/packet analysis to resolve technical issues.
Validate interfaces and data flows between onboard and wayside systems.
Support field activities during testing, commissioning, and service introduction.
Deploy software updates, patches, configurations, and perform routine health checks.
Monitor system performance, identify anomalies, and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with engineering, software, telecom, and commissioning teams to integrate solutions.
Translate design and interface documentation into operational configurations and validation procedures.
Prepare technical reports, findings, and documentation following field activities.
Required Skills/ Knowledge
The professional will have full ownership of the railway onboard environment across hardware, software, operating systems, networks, data flows, interfaces, and field conditions.
System Administration (Linux & Windows)
Experience managing Linux (Oracle/RHEL) and Windows Server platforms, including troubleshooting, scripting (Bash/Python/PowerShell), log and packet analysis, performance monitoring, disk/filesystem management, scheduling (cron/Task Scheduler), log rotation, and operation of cluster/high-availability environments.
Networking Fundamentals
Ability to manage physical/virtual interfaces, configure VLANs and routing, and perform advanced network troubleshooting with packet?level diagnostics.
Protocols
Knowledge of REST APIs, SIP, RTP/RTSP, MQTT, and telecom communication protocols.
Containerization & Microservices
Practical experience with Docker, Swarm, Portainer, container lifecycle management, and microservice?based distributed architectures.
Documentation & Design Interpretation
Ability to interpret technical design documents, ICDs, workflows, and architecture diagrams, translating them into concrete configuration, integration, and validation tasks.
Desired Skills/ Knowledge
Knowledge of Passenger Information, CCTV, PA/VA, and Radio Systems: Understanding of typical onboard subsystems, field devices,
and communication/announcement chains.
Asterisk & VoIP Systems (Highly Desirable): Experience configuring and maintaining Asterisk PBX in standalone and High Availability (HA) environments, including dial?plan development, SIP trunk configuration, codec management, call routing logic, and troubleshooting of VoIP architectures.
Cloud & Virtualization Exposure (Highly Desirable): Familiarity with VMware, Proxmox, or cloud environments for lab setups, testing, and simulation.
CI/CD & DevOps Practices (Nice to Have): Exposure to Git workflows, pipelines, and automated deployment/testing strategies.
Education/Qualifications
Master's Degree in Information Engineering (or equivalent in ICT, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or Electronics).
Strong technical background in system administration, networking, and distributed architectures.
Preferred
Professional certifications in ICT or Telecom domains (e.g., Linux+/RHCSA/RHCE, CCNA, VMware, cybersecurity certifications).
Additional academic or professional training related to transportation systems, onboard ICT, or telecom integration.
Experience in railway, avionics, industrial automation, or other safety critical environments
Languages
English fluent.
Italian proficiency
Alla posizione si applica il vigente CCNL per l'industria metalmeccanica privata e l'installazione di impianti, con inquadramento nel livello B2, ai sensi della relativa disciplina di classificazione del personale.
