Overview

In this role you will help build the Kong AI Gateway, enabling secure governance of AI & LLM-based innovation at scale. You will work with the engineering team to implement core features like multi-LLM routing, semantic caching, and related routing/proxying capabilities. The role involves building, debugging, and optimizing highly scalable, distributed systems, and collaborating with a remote team. You will contribute to documentation and cross-functional work that shapes Kong’s AI-enabled API platform.

Responsibilities and Benefits

- Build and maintain API management software for AI/LLMs and underlying stack
- Implement new features including proxying, load balancing, and database support for Kong AI Gateway
- Troubleshoot bugs, tune performance, and perform low-level optimizations
- Bridge Kong with third‑party deployment platforms and tooling




- Handle additional tasks as assigned by manager

Qualifications
- 3+ years of server-side programming experience
- Hands‑on experience with Golang or Rust
- Experience building and debugging highly scalable, distributed, reliable, and resilient applications xysqume
- Strong Linux systems troubleshooting and profiling skills
- Experience with distributed systems and Linux networking stack (L7/L4 APIs)
- Comfortable working with a remotely distributed teamStrong ownership mindset and excellent written/verbal communication (documentation)
- Familiarity with AI/LLM concepts and applications development
