In this role you will provide technical expertise for managing radioactive waste from decommissioning activities at JRC facilities. You will help develop and implement waste strategies, ensure regulatory alignment, and support the design and operation of waste storage and handling. You will work within a JV delivering support services to accelerate decommissioning and waste management across European sites. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient waste management, shaping decommissioning programs for a secure and sustainable future.Develop and implement radioactive waste management strategiesSupport waste minimisation and waste hierarchy initiativesPrepare waste treatment, conditioning, packaging, transport, and disposal plansCoordinate interfaces between decommissioning and waste management activitiesDefine waste characterization programmesAssess radiological and chemical inventoriesReview sampling and analysis methodologies and non-destructive testing requirementsReview assay and analysis resultsClassify waste according to local regulationsEnsure compliance with IAEA Safety Standards, Euratom requirements,



Italian nuclear regulations and environmental legislationSupport license applications and regulatory submissionsInterface with regulatory authorities and stakeholdersReview contractor deliverables and technical studiesSupport design and operation of waste storage facilitiesMonitor waste treatment and conditioning activitiesProvide technical recommendations to project management teamsMaster's degree in Nuclear / Environmental Engineering / Waste Management / Physics or related scientific disciplineSignificant experience in radioactive waste managementExperience supporting nuclear decommissioning projectsKnowledge of waste characterization, treatment, conditioning, storage, and disposalExperience working in regulated nuclear environmentsStrong team collaboration, stakeholder management and communication skillsGood analytical thinking and problem-solving skillsIn this role you will provide technical expertise for managing radioactive waste from decommissioning activities at JRC facilities.
