Long/short discretionary equity is Point72’s core investment strategy and its success depends on our sector-based investing teams, comprised of portfolio managers and research analysts. As an ever-increasing volume and variety of data are used to drive fundamental equity strategies, data scientists placed on portfolio manager teams serve as a key resource for many of our investing professionals. **Role** As a data analyst embedded in an equity investing team, your role will be to spearhead innovation through the utilization of diverse data sources and systems. You will engage closely with a portfolio manager and their team of research analysts, bridging the gap between data and fundamental research. Your contributions will underpin investment hypotheses and play a crucial role in guiding investment choices. **Responsibilities**
- Work closely with a portfolio manager and a team of research analysts to analyze a broad universe of Compliance approved data that will directly influence idea generation and investment decisions
- Maintain and update financial models, using Excel as the primary tool, to provide accurate and timely data to inform investment decisions
- Perform quarterly updates to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data
- Follow and synthesize company earnings reports and conference calls
- Support investment teams by elucidating the primary data factors influencing companies and industries **Requirements**: - Undergraduate degree or higher
- 1-2+ years of experience in a related field, such as accounting, corporate finance, or investment banking
- Strong proficiency in Excel and financial modeling
- Quantitative ability demonstrated through relevant coursework or work equivalent
- Team player with an entrepreneurial spirit and good communication skills
- Intellectual maturity, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
