h3Climate Risk and Agrometeorologist Specialist /h3pIn this role you will provide technical support for climate services and climate risk management within FAO’s Environment Team. You will help assess climate risks in agrifood systems and support policy development and project formulation. You will translate complex climate data into actionable guidance for FAO offices and member states, enabling improved adaptation and risk-informed decision making. The role offers opportunities to work across multidisciplinary teams and contribute to FAO’s climate and environmental priorities on a global scale. This position combines technical analysis with capacity building and stakeholder engagement to advance resilient food systems. /pulliPrepare technical documents on hydro-meteorological and climate impact assessments to support adaptation projects and policy development /liliAnalyze climate, social, economic, and environmental data to characterize climate impacts in agriculture and agrifood systems /liliSupport development and implementation of climate risk assessment tools and methodologies /liliSupport multi-hazard agricultural climate services and improve access to weather monitoring, forecasting,
and early warning services /liliTransfer risk knowledge (tools, datasets, methodologies) to FAO country and regional offices and Member States /liliParticipate in relevant meetings and technical trainings /liliJoin multidisciplinary teams to promote climate risk management across FAO’s work areas /liliProvide technical support to FAO's climate services initiatives as required /liliPerform other related duties as needed /liliAdvanced university degree in agrometeorology, meteorology, climate science, agriculture, hydrology, crop science, soil science, animal science, forestry, fisheries, environmental sciences, physical geography, remote sensing, statistics, data science or related field (for consultants) /liliOR /liliUniversity degree in the same fields (for PSAs) /liliMinimum 1 year (CAT C), 5 years (CAT B), or 10 years (CAT A) relevant experience in climate impact assessment and climate services /liliWorking knowledge of English (FAO Core Competencies) /li /ulIn this role you will provide technical support for climate services and climate risk management within FAO’s Environment Team.
