In this role you support welding development and qualification for structural railway components, applying MIG, TIG and FSW techniques.
You will ensure compliance with EN *****, ISO **** and other quality standards, while guiding automotive considerations for production sites.
You collaborate with cross?functional teams to optimise welding parameters and define inspection plans.
You drive root?cause analyses and continuous improvement to ensure robust, compliant welds in rail and aluminium environments.
This is a high?impact, hands?on technical role at Hydro with international scope and a strong quality culture.

Support feasibility assessments for welding during RFQs and project phases
Develop and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and qualifications
Define and optimise welding parameters with production teams
Ensure compliance with EN *****, ISO **** and customer requirements
Provide on?site technical support and troubleshoot welding issues
Lead root cause analyses for defects and support continuous improvement
Define inspection and testing plans and support audits and certifications
Guide production sites on welding technologies, industrialisation, and best practices
Responsabilità
Master's degree in mechanical engineering, Materials Science, or related field
Certified Welding Engineer qualification (IWE/EWE)
Strong hands?on welding experience (MIG, TIG, FSW), preferably in rail or aluminium
Knowledge of railway welding standards and quality requirements
Understanding of aluminium materials (6xxx alloys) and manufacturing processes
Strong analytical and structured problem?solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
Fluent English; German or French advantageous
