About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, build, and operate the cloud infrastructure that runs our web application. You will own our production environments, deployment pipelines, and reliability foundations, working closely with backend and frontend engineers to ensure systems are secure, scalable, and easy to operate.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership over how our systems run in production.

Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & Architecture

· Design and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure

· Define and implement infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar)

· Own core cloud components:

· Networking (VPCs, subnets, firewalls)

· Compute (Kubernetes, VMs, serverless)

· Storage and managed databases

· Make pragmatic architectural trade-offs balancing cost, scalability, and complexity

CI/CD & Deployment

· Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for backend and frontend services

· Implement safe deployment strategies (blue/green, canary, rollbacks)

· Automate environment provisioning (dev, staging, production)

· Improve deployment speed without sacrificing safety

Reliability & Operations

· Ensure high availability and resilience of production systems

· Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting

· Participate in on-call rotation and incident response

· Lead post-incident reviews and drive reliability improvements

· Implement backups, disaster recovery, and failover strategies

Security & Best Practices

· Implement cloud security best practices:

· IAM and access controls

· Secrets management

· Network isolation

· Work with the team to ensure secure-by-default configurations





· Support basic compliance needs (without heavy bureaucracy)

Collaboration & Leadership

· Work closely with backend engineers to support application needs

· Provide guidance on scalability, performance, and reliability

· Review infrastructure changes and deployment plans

· Mentor other engineers on cloud and operational best practices

Required Qualifications

· 6+ years of experience in cloud or infrastructure engineering

· Strong hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

· Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code

· Experience operating production systems with uptime requirements

· Solid understanding of:

· Networking fundamentals

· Containers and container orchestration

· Strong debugging and incident response skills

Preferred Qualifications

· Familiarity with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)

· Experience with cost optimization and capacity planning

· Exposure to SRE concepts (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets)

· Experience supporting developer self-service platforms

· Prior on-call ownership and incident leadership

· Infrastructure is reproducible and well-documented
