Experteer Overview

In this role you will lead the strategic and operational procurement function for Mandarin Oriental, Rome, aligning sourcing with the hotel's luxury standards. You will work across Restaurants, Bars & Experience, Rooms, Engineering and Finance to enable cost-efficient sourcing and exceptional service. You will build strong supplier partnerships, negotiate favourable terms, and implement best-in-class purchasing systems and controls. You will drive cost savings, inventory optimization and sustainability in procurement, supporting the opening and ongoing operation of Rome's luxury destination.

- Lead all purchasing operations ensuring compliance, efficiency and service quality
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to maximise value and cost effectiveness
- Build and maintain relationships with local and international suppliers; negotiate contracts and SLAs
- Ensure competitive sourcing aligned with Mandarin Oriental quality standards
- Monitor supplier performance, market conditions and trends for cost savings and improvement
- Oversee inventory and stock control to optimise levels and minimise waste
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with policies, controls and audits
- Collaborate with Restaurants, Bars & Experience, Rooms Division, Engineering and Finance to support objectives
- Drive implementation and enhancement of purchasing systems, processes and controls




- Monitor procurement expenditure and provide reporting and recommendations to senior leadership
- Lead and develop the Purchasing team through coaching and career development
- Support sustainability via responsible sourcing and eco‑conscious practices
- Contribute to successful opening and operation of the Rome property

Responsabilità

- 7+ years in purchasing, procurement or supply chain in luxury hospitality or related industry
- Proven leadership in procurement operations within a complex, fast‑paced environment
- Strong commercial and financial acumen including budgeting, cost control, contracts and supplier management
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational efficiencies and deliver measurable results
- Excellent negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and identify trends
- Experience with procurement systems, inventory controls and hotel purchasing best practices
- Proven ability to develop high‑performing teams and foster collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building across all levels of the organisation
- Fluency in English and Italian
- High integrity, professionalism and attention to detail
