What you’ll do

- Lead the design and implementation of mechanical systems for data centers, ensuring they meet operational requirements and industry standards.
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of HVAC systems, chillers, and other critical mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical and structural engineers, to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into overall data center designs.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of mechanical systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
- Analyze system performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary modifications or upgrades.




- Manage vendor relationships and oversee procurement processes for mechanical equipment and services.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and maintenance staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Prepare and manage budgets related to mechanical operations and maintenance, ensuring cost-effective solutions are implemented.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in mechanical engineering, particularly as they relate to data center operations.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for mechanical failures, ensuring minimal impact on data center operations.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to mechanical systems, including maintenance logs, compliance records, and performance metrics.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on critical environments or data centers.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, cooling technologies, and mechanical design principles.
- Proven experience in project management, including overseeing mechanical system installations and upgrades.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to data center operations and safety.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.




- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in engineering software and tools for system design and analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

Nice to have

- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience with energy-efficient mechanical systems and sustainability practices in data centers.
- Knowledge of building management systems (BMS) and automation technologies.
- Familiarity with international standards for data center design, such as Uptime Institute or TIA-942.
- Previous experience in a leadership role within a technical team.

- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software for mechanical systems.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting data and making informed decisions.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
