Junior Data Engineer
Work mode: On-site (5/5) – Castelli Romani (Rome area)
SCOPE OF THE POSITION
The goal of the position is to support the design, development and operation of cloud-based data platforms and data pipelines, ensuring scalable, secure and high-quality data availability for analytics and business intelligence solutions.
The Data Engineer Junior will actively contribute to the evolution of the company cloud data platform, working closely with Business & Data Analytics, IT and other departments to enable data-driven decision making.
ACTIVITIES
As Data Engineer Junior, your goal is to contribute to the development, maintenance and evolution of the company data ecosystem on cloud platforms.
Main activities:
- Design, develop and maintain ETL / ELT data pipelines on cloud platforms
- Integrate data from heterogeneous sources (ERP, CRM, production systems, IoT, external Data)
- Operate and manage cloud data services mainly on AWS
- Support partial data workloads and integrations on Microsoft Azure
- Ensure data quality, consistency, reliability and performance
- Support data modeling for analytics and reporting
- Monitor pipelines and manage troubleshooting
- Maintain technical documentation
- Optimize cloud costs,
performance and scalability
- Automation and scheduling of data workflows
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Education: University degree in STEM disciplines (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or similar)
- Experience in Data Engineering and Cloud environments (AWS is nice to have)
- Experience with ETL / ELT processes
- Basic data modeling knowledge
- Knowledge:
- Fluent English
- knowledge of AWS data services, such as S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Athena, EMR, Kinesis, Lake Formation, RDS/Aurora, and other equivalent AWS data and analytics services
- AWS certifications are considered a plus, but are not mandatory
- Basic knowledge of Azure data services is considered a plus, but is not currently required
- tools of Business Intelligence (QlikSense is considered a plus, but is not mandatory, Power BI)
- SQL and relational databases
- Python
