ppA fast-growing fintech in Milan is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to take ownership of a cloud-native platform running on Google Cloud Platform, built on Kubernetes, Terraform and Flux CD.
/p h3The challenge /h3 pThis is the first full-time DevOps hire.
The infrastructure exists and works, but the practices around it are still being defined.
You will assess the current IaC implementation, close the gap between test and production, and set the standard for how the platform is deployed, observed and recovered.
The product handles financial operations for thousands of SMEs, so reliability and compliance are not optional extras.
/p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liOwn the cloud infrastructure end to end: reliability, scalability and security posture.
/li liAssess the existing Terraform implementation and replicate best practices from test to production.
/li liOptimize and automate CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and Flux CD.
/li liStrengthen the observability framework (Prometheus, Grafana, Google-native tooling, OpenTelemetry).
/li liDraft and implement disaster recovery plans for core infrastructure components.
/li liPartner with the Payments, Onboarding and Billing teams to build resilience and recovery into their applications.
/li liDrive cost optimization and performance tuning across GCP services.
/li liDocument infrastructure, operational procedures and architectural decisions.
/li liAct as the internal reference for DevOps practices and mentor the wider tech team.
/li liKeep the platform aligned with regulatory and security compliance requirements, including external audit readiness.
/li /ul h3Requirements /h3 ul li4+ years in DevOps, SRE or Software Engineering roles with strong operational exposure.
/li liExtensive hands-on GCP experience: GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Cloud Monitoring.
/li liTerraform at production scale.
/li liDocker and Kubernetes.
/li liCI/CD design and implementation, ideally with GitHub Actions.
/li liMonitoring and logging with Prometheus and OpenTelemetry.
/li liExperience with distributed systems.
/li liStrong troubleshooting across application, network (TCP/IP) and system layers.
/li liFluent English.
/li /ul h3Nice to have /h3 ul liEvent-driven architectures with Pub/Sub or Kafka.
/li liPerformance and cost optimization in high-traffic environments.
/li liMLOps.
/li liBackground in regulated sectors (finance, healthcare, crypto).
/li liNode.js or TypeScript for automation and tooling.
