This role in summary

We are looking for a motivated and curious Data Science Intern to join our Advanced Analytics & AI team in Milan.

During the internship, you will work alongside Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and business stakeholders to develop data-driven solutions that support business decisions and improve operational processes. You will gain hands-on experience across the data science lifecycle, including data preparation, exploratory analysis, machine learning, Generative AI, model evaluation, and communication of results.

Your responsibilities will include

- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and translate them into data science use cases.
- Collect, clean, transform, and analyze structured and unstructured data from different sources.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.

- Develop and evaluate statistical and machine learning models for classification, regression, forecasting, recommendation, or anomaly detection.
- Support the development of Generative AI and Large Language Model solutions, such as:
- Information extraction and text classification.
- Document processing and summarization.
- Prompt design and structured LLM outputs.
- Create clear visualizations, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to the documentation, testing, and monitoring of data science solutions.
- Work with the wider Data & Analytics team to deliver prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions.

Minimum requirements

- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Good knowledge of Python for data analysis and machine learning.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational data concepts.
- Understanding of fundamental statistics and machine learning concepts.
- Interest in Generative AI, Large Language Models, and natural language processing.
- Fluency in English

Preferred skills and experiences

- Experience with machine learning or data science projects through university coursework, personal projects, or previous internships.
- Familiarity with deep learning or NLP libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow,

Hugging Face Transformers, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, or AWS.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Looker Studio, or Tableau.
- Familiarity with Git, APIs, Docker, or basic software development practices.
